Oh absolutely. There’s no comparison.

I often had weeks without video games, usually self imposed. But 1 day of gaming meant less ability to focus, and more fatigue the next day.

I think it’s like a drug. These things are cheap dopamine hits. Like cocaine.

Even just having the option to game seemed to affect my focus. Every time I walked by my console during a no games week, it would take a piece of me. It would increase my desire to stop working.

I will absolutely switch to a text capable flip phone at some point. Maybe not permanently, and I’ll likely get an iPod touch to use apps and download podcasts etc. But I want to remember what it’s like to not-have internet access.
