My point isn’t about Angel Keys as a man as much as it is about the origins of the view that fats are bad for you. The 7 countries study, regardless of Keys scientific body of work, is one of the first and most influential dominoes.
When it comes to the man himself, it does not surprise me that he researched more or that he made mistakes that didn’t define him.
My focus is the narrative which became popular in the U.S.
When it comes to people, I’d say Eisenhower was really where things got out of hand. He televised and promoted high carb low fat, and that’s probably a much bigger factor than the 7 countries study or Keys ever would have been otherwise.
